Green InitiativeWith all our local initiatives we also try to keep a global perspective.  Our purpose is to help people find Jesus, but like many churches, we have facilities and staff that consume both natural and man-made resources.  Since 2007 the Bridge has made significant strides toward being more eco-friendly and going green.

The church has instituted a comprehensive recycling program that includes the collection of paper, plastic, cardboard, metal and glass materials with receptacles throughout the staff offices and auditorium areas.  Over the course of the next year, the program will extend to our other facilities.  Additionally, we use biodegradable and low VOC cleaning products that don’t harm the earth or indoor air quality.  A priority is made toward recycled materials in our daily operations and large purchases.

The communications department is helping lead the way by purchasing only paper that has some portion of recycled content.  The weekly Sunday morning bulletins are made from an unprecedented 60% post-consumer recycled paper and printed with soy ink.  They also limit all high-volume printing runs to multiple smaller runs so that waste from overages is limited.

With a church as large as ours, it can sometimes be difficult to make sure every purchase is made with an eco-friendly mind.  But we try hard, and we think that is what would please God.

Leading people to Christ will always be the number 1 priority for our church.  Whatever product or service is needed to help accomplish this goal will be used.  However, if we can find a method that helps the environment in the process, we’ll use it!
